What we collect

Flagship Pioneering, LLC (55 Cambridge Parkway, Suite 800E, Cambridge, MA 02142) is the controller of the personal data described below. Our Data Protection Officer can be reached at privacy@flagshippioneering.com. When you subscribe to Flagship Labs, Substack, Inc., our platform provider and data processor, collects your email address and subscription preferences on our behalf. Substack may also collect standard usage data (such as whether you open or click on an issue) as described in Substack’s Privacy Policy.

How we use it

We use your email address solely to send you Flagship Labs content, including new issues and occasional announcements. Providing your email address is necessary to receive the newsletter; if you do not provide it, we cannot deliver Flagship Labs to you. We do not sell or share your information for marketing or advertising purposes. Substack may also process subscriber data for its own platform purposes as described in Substack’s Privacy Policy. Flagship Pioneering processes subscriber data on the basis of your consent, provided when you subscribe. We do not use your data for automated decision-making. We maintain appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data. We retain your information for as long as you remain a subscriber.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe at any time (which also withdraws your consent) using the link at the bottom of any issue, or by managing your subscription at substack.com/account. If you’d like to access, correct, restrict processing of, obtain a portable copy of, object to the processing of, or delete the information we hold about you, or have a privacy question, please contact us at privacy@flagshippioneering.com. If you are in the EU/EEA, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Community Guidelines

Flagship Labs is a place to read about science and the ideas that drive it. We welcome comments that add to the conversation — questions, reactions, perspectives, and constructive disagreement are all part of what makes a publication worth reading.

To keep that conversation productive, we ask that comments:

  • Stay relevant to the topic of the issue

  • Treat other readers, authors, and the people mentioned in our work with respect

  • Avoid sharing personal information about private individuals

  • Refrain from false or misleading statements about people or organizations

  • Not include spam or promote commercial products or services

  • Not promote or solicit illegal activity

Comments that violate these guidelines may be removed. Readers who disregard them may lose the ability to comment. If you see a comment that concerns you, please report it using Substack’s built-in flag feature or email us at privacy@flagshippioneering.com. We may update these guidelines from time to time.

Please do not use Substack comments to report adverse events, side effects, or other safety concerns related to Flagship portfolio company products. If you would like to report a suspected adverse event or side effect, please contact the relevant company directly through its product website or designated pharmacovigilance channel, or contact us at privacy@flagshippioneering.com and we will direct you to the appropriate contact.
